I-B-2. ROBERT E. SIBERT (c. 1848 – 1896), son of Henry Sibert³ (David², John David¹)

Robert E. Sibert was the son of Henry Sibert. [1] He was probably born about 1848 in Alabama. He died by 15 December 1896. He married Rebecca Oliver on 28 February 1884 in DeKalb County, Alabama. [1][2] Rebecca was born in January 1843 in Alabama. She died on 25 January 1917 in Cherokee County, Alabama. She married second Jesse Brown on 15 December 1896 in Cherokee County. [3] Jesse was born in June 1834 in South Carolina.

According to the census, in 1900, Rebecca, born in January 1843 in Alabama, was living with Jessie Brown, born in June 1834 in South Carolina, in Stafford, Cherokee County with her two children, James, born in October 1889 in Alabama and Cassie P., born in June 1891 in Alabama. Rebecca and Jessie had been married four years and Rebecca had had two children. Jessie was a farmer. In 1910, Rebecca P., aged 51, was living in Brindley, Cherokee County with Jessie M., aged 74, her son James W., aged 22, and his wife Mandy R, aged 21. Jessie was a farmer and James was a farm laborer. [4]

After Robert's death, Miles Oliver was appointed guardian of Robert's minor children, James W. and Cassie Pearl. [5]

Children of Robert E. Sibert and Rebecca Oliver:

I-B-2-a. James W. Sibert was born on 11 October 1889 in Collinsville. He died on 20 September 1947 in Cherokee County. He married Amanda Rebecca Bobo.

I-B-2-b. Cassie Pearl Sibert was born on 30 June 1889 in Alabama. [6] She died on 30 March 1981. [6][7] She is buried in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia. [7] She married Horace Elexander Tolbert on 24 March 1903 [at age 13!] in DeKalb County, Alabama. [2][8] Horace. Horace, the son of Newton J. and Elizabeth Rebecca (Ellis) Tolbert, was born on 24 March 1884 or 1886 in DeKalb County. [3][9] He died of a heart attack on 17 August 1944 in Guntersville, Marshall County, Alabama. [10] He is buried in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Boaz, Marshall County. [7] Cassie and Horace divorced in 1928 in Huntsville. [3] Horace married second, as her second husband, Bessie Nunn on 28 February 1942 in Calhoun County, Alabama. [3]

According to the census in 1910 Cassie P., aged 18[!], and Horace A., aged 25, lived in Corinth, DeKalb County with their children, Doris L., aged five; Clara L., aged three; and James A., aged one. Horace's parents, Newton J. and Elizabeth R. Tolbert, also lived with them. Cassie and Horace had been married seven years and Cassie had had three children. In 1930, H[illegible], aged 45, and Cassie, aged 41, lived in Albertville, Marshall County with their children C[illegible], a 27-year-old son, who must be Clara[!]; Allen, J., aged 21; Alson, aged 17; Zelma, aged 14; and Syble, aged ten. Allen J.'s wife Bessie O., aged 19 also lived with them. All members of the household were born in Alabama. H[illegible] was a farmer, C[illegible] was a teacher in a rural school, and Allen J. and Bessie O. worked in a cotton mill. In 1950, Cassie Pearl, aged 60, lived with her son Jessie D. Tolbert, aged 24, her daughter-in-law Sarah Mae Tolbert, aged 20, and a granddaughter, apparently the daughter of Jessie and Mae. Jessie was a dairyman for a wholesale dairy. [4]

Horace ran a store and filling station for several years, and after that a road-side barbecue stand. [10]

Horace's obituary says he was survived by his wife; his four sons, Allen, in the army, Asbury of Mexico, Algie of Rome, Georgia, and Jesse, in the army; and his five daughters, Mrs. Doris Brock of New Mexico, Mrs. Zelma Bing of Panama City, Florida, Mrs. Sibyl Payne of Rome, Georgia; and Mrs. Clara Cryar of Albertville. [10]

Children of Horace E. Tolbert and Cassie P. Sibert:

Doris Thelma Tolbert was born on 3 March 1905. [7] She died on 1 September 1974, aged 69. [7][11] She is buried in the Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, Bernalilo County, New Mexico. [7] She married Herschel Brock on 14 August 1924 in DeKalb County. [7][12] Herschel Brock of Silver City died on 23 July 1964 in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He left two children. [11] Doris Thelma Brock and Alton N. Reed obtained a marriage license on or shortly before 4 July 1947 in Albuquerque. [11]

Doris Reed's obituary says she was survived by her mother, Mrs. Casie Tolbert; four sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Black, Mrs. Clair Cryar, Mrs. Zelma Bing, and Mrs. Sibyl Bing; and three brothers, Bill Tolbert, Allen Tolbert, and Jessie Tolbert. [11]

Clara Tolbert was born on 19 February 1907 and died on 29 May 1988. [7] She married Buford L. Cryar on 15 October 1932 in Marshall County. [7][3] He was born on 8 February 1910 and died on 19 July 1991. [7] Clara and Buford are buried together in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Cemetery. [7]
James Allen Tolbert was born on 5 June 1909 and died on 30 June 2000. [7] He married Odessa Odell Pounds on 28 September 1929 in Marshall County. [3] Odessa was born on 22 October 1910 and died on 31 May 1968, age 57. [7] James and Odessa are buried in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Cemetery. [7]

Children of James Tolbert and Odessa Pounds:
- James Lavern Tolbert was born on 28 May 1931 and died on 25 November 2018, age 37. [7] He married Betty Bailey. [7] He survived her. [7]
Benjamin Asbury Tolbert was born on 25 July 1911 and died in January 1989, aged 77. [7] He married Zoy Jordan on 25 November 1932 in Marshall County. [7][3] Zoy was born on 16 July 1916 and died on 15 March 1980, aged 63. [7] Benjamin and Zoy are buried in the Sunset Memorial Park. [7]

Children of Benjamin Tolbert and Zoy Jordan:
- Bemmy Clois Tolbert was born on 15 June 1943 and died on 18 May 2019, age 75. [7] Bemmy lived in Albuquerque. [7]
Alzie L. Tolbert was born on 15 February 1914 and died on 17 February 1974. [7] He married first Gladys Mardell Pounds. [7] She was born on 23 May 1919 and died on 7 June 1976, age 57. [7] Alzie married second Martha Milam. [7] She was born on 29 April 1924 and died on 22 March 2009. [7] Alzie and his wives are buried in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Cemetery. [7]

Children of Alzie Tolbert and Gladys Pounds:
- Alzie Ladell Tolbert was born on 13 October 1939 and died on 19 April 2009. [7] He married Sylvia Mae Martin. [7] She was born on 23 November 1941 and died on 20 April 2020. [7] Alzie and Sylvia are buried in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
- Hoyt A. Tolbert was born on 26 April 1944 and died on 18 June 2018. [7]
Zelma Tolbert was born on 2 March 1916 and died on 7 February 2001, aged 84. [7][6] She is buried in the Oaknoll Memorial Grounds Cemetery. [7] She married Charles Frank Bing on 7 July 1935 in Cherokee County. [7] He was born on 22 March 1910 and died on 11 May 1978. [7][13] He is buried in the Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in High Point, DeKalb County. [7][13] He was a staff sergeant in the engineer service in World War II. [7][13]
Sibyl Jeanette Tolbert [8] was born on 23 October 1919 and died on 7 April 1977, aged 57. [7] She married Henry Dean Payne on 28 April 1938. [7] Henry, the son of William Oscar and Bessie Price Payne, was born on 29 December 1915 in Floyd County, Georgia and died on 13 September 1980. [7] Sibyl and Henry are buried in the Beech Creek Cemetery in Rome, Floyd County, Georgia. [7] Henry was a veteran of World War II. [7]
Jesse D. Tolbert was born on 5 May 1925 and died on 30 September 2014. [7] He married Sarah Mae Montgomery on 21 May 1947 in Cherokee County. [7] She was born on 21 May 1929 and died on 14 March 2011. [7] Jessie and Sarah are buried in the Oaknoll Memorial Grounds Cemetery. [7]
Kathleen Tolbert married ___ Adams and lived in Alexander, Louisiana.
